Here is a guideline of online worship:
- Send prayer requests to Pastor Arthur (for EM) if you would like them to be prayed for during the service.
- Eat beforehand, turn off any disturbing web pages or devices.
- Take some time before signing-in to meditate on Scripture, pray for all of God’s worldwide people who will be worshiping, and pray for the Holy Spirit to use the worship service, sermon, prayers, and songs to build and shape all of us to be more Christ-like. Here are some passages to meditate on in preparation for worship: Exodus 24; Psalm 22, 29, 86, 95, 96, 97, 99; Daniel 3; Luke 4:1-13; John 4:1-42; Hebrews 9:1-22, 12:14-29; Revelation 4:1-11, 22:1-7.
- During the worship, participate with your heart in ALL of the aspects of the service. This would include the call to worship, sing praises, confession of sin and assurance of pardon, singing, etc. Remember, worship is God’s gathering of us to interact with Him. It is not simply to listen to a sermon.
- During the sermon have your Bibles open. Use physical copies of the Bible so that you are not distracted by apps, games, etc. Be prepared to not only believe the Word but to take appropriate action in your life (James 1:22).
- Do not baptize anyone at your home, nor administer Communion. These are only to be done by ordained Pastors. Your Pastors are considering ways to administer communion during this time.
- After worship, at some point on Sunday, take some time to discuss the sermon with others. If you worshiped by yourself, then you are encouraged to call someone from the church to discuss the message and how it applies to the world, the church and your life. If you cannot find anyone by phone then you are encouraged to journal about the implications of the sermon.
